MR. VAINO PITKANEN (Of Sprucedale) Peacefully at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge on Monday October 10, 2011 in his 87th year. Vaino Pitkanen, beloved husband of the late Jean Pitkanen. Dear father of Paul Pitkanen, Karen Boyer (Dave) and step father of Briane Birney (Linda). Loving grandfather of Shawn (Carolyn), Scott (Amy), Erikka, David, Jason, Joshua and great grandfather of Connor, Liam and Renesh. Predeceased by his parents Jalmar and Hilda and his brother Dave. Family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Dempster Chapel, 210 Ontario Street in Burk's Falls on Friday October 14, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. A service to celebrate the life of the late Mr. Pitkanen will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday October 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Nina Fulford officiating. Interment at the Sprucedale Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
