After an extended stay at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, John passed peacefully with family at his side. Devoted eldest son of the late Joseph and Wilma Hornibrook (nee Demaine). Survived by sister Hazel and brother Terry (Judi) of Strong Township; nephews Tom (Marie) of Alliston, Jim (Joel) of Toronto, Bill (Tammy) of Holstein and great uncle to Julia and Chase Hornibrook. He will be remembered by many other relatives and friends.
John spent his early years working the family farm and later in life for the township of Strong. His leisure time was spent bowling, curling, playing cards, baseball in the summer and ice fishing in winter, with the odd trip to Las Vegas. John volunteered countless hours with the Strong Agricultural Society and was a member of Sundridge Legion Branch #467.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cowan and all the staff of Pod C3 at the Health Centre for their excellent care and friendship to John during his stay.
A visitation to celebrate John will be held at Opatovsky Funeral Home – Moore Chapel on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm followed by the burial at Strong Cemetery in the family plot. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to either the Strong Agricultural Society or the Sundridge Food Bank in John’s memory. Online condolences at www.opatovskyfuneralhome.com
