John Grightmire

MR. JOHN FREDERICK GRIGHTMIRE of Sundridge Peacefully at The Pines in Bracebridge on Saturday September 23, 2017 in his 92nd year. John Grightmire, beloved husband of the late Laura Grightmire (nee Rayner). Dear father of Charles Grightmire (Susan), Linda Taylor (Tom) and Roy Grightmire (Jean). Loving grandfather of Charleen, Charles Jr., Sarah and Ryan. Cherished brother-in-law of Louis Sentesy and predeceased by brother Harold (late Violet) and sister Nellie. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was President of the Canadian Golf Course Superintendents Association, he was Superintendent of the Rosedale Golf and Country Club for 16 years and he was an active Member and President of the Sundridge Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 467. Family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home - Moore Chapel, 9 Paget Street in Sundridge on Saturday September 30, 2017 from 1-3 and 6-8 P.M. A Tribute Service of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #467 will be held in the chapel at 5:30 P.M. on Saturday. A service to celebrate the life of the late John Grightmire will be conducted in the chapel on Sunday October 1, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Lori Campbell officiating. Interment at the Strong Cemetery in Sundridge. If desired, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #467, the Sundridge Food Bank or The Pines in Bracebridge, for their outstanding care, would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
