MRS. JOAN CHARLOTTE DUNCAN of Sundridge Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Monday January 8, 2018 in her 75th year. Joan Duncan (nee Bruce), beloved wife of Bill Duncan. Dear mother of Nancy Mitchell, Valerie Miller (Ron Cole), Marilyn Sullivan (Barry Materi), Mike Duncan (Lynn), late Bonnie Wuori and mother-in-law of Dave Wuori. Loving grandma of Austin, Tanner, Allan, Kenny, Jason, Michael, James, Krystal, Tyler, Matthew, Natasha and great grandma of Killian, Abigail, Leva, Alyssa, Mya, Nathan, Dakota, Arabella and Grayson. Cherished sister of David (Trish), Peter, Janet (John) and Leonard (Janice). Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joan was a Lifetime Member of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113 and will be missed and remembered by her Union brothers and sisters. She retired in 2004 after 19.5 years with the Toronto Transit Commission. In her later years she was a proud and dedicated member of the Kearney and Sundridge Legions. A tribute service of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #467 will be conducted at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #467 on Highway 124 in Sundridge on Tuesday January 23, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with memories to follow. Visitors will be received following the service until 3:00 P.M. Another celebration will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Opatovsky Funeral Home - Moore Chapel, 9 Paget Street in Sundridge, If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Sundridge Legion Branch #467 would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
