Joan Buckland .... a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, friend, volunteer .... passed away early Christmas morning in the Bracebridge Hospital. She will be remembered as compassionate, thoughtful, witty, strong, loving, beautiful, generous, lover of gardens and books, a deep thinker, a beautiful spirit. Joan is survived by Dave, her husband of 62 years, sister Jerry, brother Jim and daughters Jan, Barb, Jo and son-in-law Phil. She is predeceased by her son Rod and daughter-in-law Theresa. Joan will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Dylan, Jane, Adam, Marly, Tala, grand daughter-in-law Julie and four great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Noah, Connor, Emma. Many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and friends will remember her. Instead of a service Joan requests that you spend that extra few minutes with someone close or enjoy the light as it sparkles into diamonds on Sand Lake or that breathtaking view of the mountains in southeast British Columbia or take in the specialness that is Manitoulin Island. Joan's last month was largely spent at the Algonquin Grace Residential Hospice in Huntsville where she and her family experienced peace and joy from the awesome care delivered by a team of highly professional staff in the most tender heartfelt manner.
