Janetta “Janet” Jean Hicks

April 10, 1931 – May 12, 2023
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Janet Hicks.
Beloved daughter of the late Percy and Pearl Brear (Blackmore). Loving wife of the late Kenneth Hicks (deceased March, 1975). Proud mother of Marie Shurr (Clifford), Betty Darnbrough (Robert), Patricia Codling (Ron), John Hicks (Julie), Marilyn Daemi (Masoud), mother-in-law of Patty Hicks and predeceased son Bernie Hicks.
Janet was blessed with and will be fondly remembered by her 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and excitedly awaiting the arrival of her 24th great grandchild in June.
Janet is survived by her brother, sisters and sister-in-laws Murray Brear (Joanne), Rosella Patton, Allice Calow (Wayne) and Joan Jakabo (Joe), Betty Ireland, Annette Brear, Sharon Booth, Pat Brear and Jean Hicks. She was predeceased by her brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ernie Brear, Ken Brear, Norm Brear (Arlene), Cecil Brear, Allan Brear, Alvin Hicks (Louise), Lloyd Hicks, Fred Madden, Marion Harvey (Ben) and Velma Brear (Carl).
She was respected and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
On May 20, 2023 at 11:00 am, the Graveside Service will take place at Chapman Valley Cemetery. The Celebration of Life for Janet will follow at the Katrine Community Centre from 2:00 – 4:00 pm (the formal service will begin at 3:00).
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Opatovsky Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
