DR. JAMES HYDE BELL of Burk's Falls Peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at the Algonquin Grace Hospice on Thursday, August 18, 2016. Beloved husband of 51 years to Miriam (nee Wilson). Father to Mary Frances (David Rettie) and David (Andrea Gumpert). Proud grandpapa of Emanuel, Florian and the late Etienne Gumpert Bell. Brother of Stephen and the late John Bell; brother-in-law of Catherine Wilson. A University of Toronto dentistry graduate (1965), Jim practised for 34 years, first in Lambeth and then in his hometown of Burk's Falls. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed skiing and canoeing, but above all, fishing in and around Algonquin Park. He also became an accomplished bagpiper. He led various community organizations and was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Magnetawan. The family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home - Dempster Chapel, 210 Ontario Street, Burk's Falls, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at The Church of the Holy Spirit, Burk's Falls, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016, with the Rev. Christian Schweter of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment to follow at 3 p.m., at the Spence Cemetery, Magnetawan, In Jim's memory, donations to the Algonquin Grace Hospice in Huntsville would be sincerely appreciated.
