Jacqueline Matthews

Jacqueline (Jackie) M. (Smith) Matthews (nee Bazinet) left her family reluctantly April 6, 2024 following a life fully lived. Jackie was a great traveller and occasionally enjoyed taking the scenic route, sometimes on purpose. She gave us many memories in so many ways; she gave us her time, her love, her homemade goods and a generous smile. There was always room for one more.

Predeceased by husband Bill Smith, parents Roland and Laurette (Poitras) Bazinet, son Dale, sister Claudette (Alexander) Geals, brother Guy and stepson Stephen. Survived by husband John E. Matthews, children Rolly (Candyce) and Sandy, stepdaughter Gail (Graeme) Perrow, grandchildren Rhys (Hannah), Foster, Ethan (Emma), Onyx, Ryan and Nicholas, great-grandchildren Stella and Winifred, brother Michel Bazinet (Lorraine Penzar), aunt Thérèse Poitras Jenkins and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, all of the family meant so much to her. 

The family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Moore Chapel, 9 Paget Street in Sundridge on Friday April 26, 2024 from 10 to 11am. with a service following. Visitors are invited to come to the house afterwards.

We would like to thank the staff at the Sudbury HSN Northeast Cancer Centre, especially Dr. Gopalakrishnan and Taylor, North Bay Regional Health Centre, South River Paramedic station and the Dynacare lab in Burk's Falls for their outstanding support and care.

Jacqueline (Jackie) M. (Smith) Matthews née Bazinet a quitté sa famille à contrecœur le 6 avril 2024, après une vie bien remplie. Jackie aimait voyager et prendre la route panoramique, parfois c’était conçu. Elle nous a laissé de nombreux souvenirs; elle nous a donné de son temps et du cœur, toujours avec un beau sourire. Il y avait toujours de la place pour un autre.

Prédécédée par son mari Bill Smith, ses parents Roland et Laurette (Poitras) Bazinet, son fils Dale, sa sœur Claudette (Alexander) Geals, son frère Guy et son beau-fils Stephen. Lui survivent son mari John E Matthews, ses enfants Rolly (Candyce) et Sandy, sa belle-fille Gail (Graeme) Perrow, ses petits-enfants Rhys (Hannah), Foster, Ethan (Emma), Onyx, Ryan et Nicholas, ses arrière-petits-enfants Stella et Winifred, son frère Michel Bazinet (Lorraine Penzar), sa tante Thérèse Poitras Jenkins et plusieurs tantes, oncles, nièces et neveux, toute la famille comptait beaucoup pour elle. 
 
 La famille recevra les visiteurs à la chapelle Opatovsky Funeral Opatovsky Home-Moore Chapel, 9 Paget Street à Sundridge le vendredi 26 avril 2024 de 10h à 11h. Un service suivra. Les visiteurs seront accueillis à la maison après le service.
 
 
Nous aimerions remercier le personnel du Centre de cancérologie HSN Nord-Est de Sudbury, en particulier le Dr Gopalakrishnan et Taylor, le Centre régional de santé de North Bay, le poste paramédical de South River et le laboratoire Dynacare de Burk's Falls pour leur soutien et leurs soins exceptionnels.
