MR. HERBERT (BERT) GOLLOP Of South River After a courageous battle with cancer at the Burk's Falls District Health Centre on Friday November 13, 2009 in his 89th year. Bert Gollop, beloved husband of Shirley Schmidt of South River. Dear father of William Gollop (Sandy), Anne Higgs (John), and Patricia Andrews (Ken) all of England, Terry Schmidt (Kerry), Mark Schmidt (Barbara), Penny Erven (Lawrence) and Dayna Woodbury (Ron). Loving grandfather of 18 grandchildren and his many great grandchildren. Survived by brother Desmond and sister-in-law Valerie. Predeceased by his wife Phyllis, brothers Morris and Sid and sister-in-law Anne. Family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Moore Chapel, 9 Paget Street, Sundridge on Monday November 16, 2009 from 7-9 P.M. Members of the South River Royal Canadian Legion Branch #390 will gather at the funeral home for a tribute service Monday evening at 6:30. A service to celebrate the life of the late Mr. Bert Gollop will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday November 17, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Rick Callery officiating. Interment at the Strong Cemetery, Sundridge. If desired, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
