Helen Doherty

HELEN UNELMA DOHERTY of Peterborough and formerly of Sprucedale Peacefully with her family by her side at the Peterborough Regional Health Center on April 14, 2014. She was born April 11, 1934 in Sprucedale, Ontario. Predeceased by her dear husband Gordon Doherty (2003). Helen leaves behind daughter Diane Thoms (David) of Huntsville and son Dean Doherty (Susan) of Peterborough. She was Grammy to 4 beautiful grandchildren: Kyla Best (Matt), Aaron Thoms, Tyler Huntley-Doherty, Katherine Doherty and one great grandson Cooper Best. Helen is survived by sisters: Irene Smith (late Ray), Mimi Brown (Cliff), brother Peter Kujala (Lorraine), sister-in-law MaryLynne Black (Phil) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Kauko Kujala. Family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home - Dempster Chapel, 210 Ontario Street in Burk's Falls on Saturday April 19, 2014 from 11 A.M. - 1 P.M. A service to celebrate the life of the late Helen Doherty will follow in the chapel at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend John McTavish officiating.
