Harvey Samuel Bennison, of South River
Harvey passed away peacefully in his sleep at Eastholme Home for the Aged in Powassan on March 14, 2021 in his 94th year.  Beloved husband of Evelyn (nee Wylie) who predeceased him on October 1, 2020. Harvey and Evelyn were married for 73 years.  Predeceased by parents Charles and Della (nee First) Bennison, brothers and sisters Minnie, Lucy, Charles, Howard, Arthur, John, Ruth and Donald. Dearest father of John (Penny), Douglas (Louise), Ed (Linda), Allen (Teresa) and Pauline (Jim). Proud grandpa of 15 Grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Dad will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Harvey had many interests over his lifetime and gave 100% of his time and energy towards them. After 32 years of service, he retired from Dupont, Nipissing Junction. He managed many hockey teams when his children were involved in the sport. He ran a successful bird business as Har- Lyn Poultry eventually becoming a certified poultry judge and judging at many country fairs. Harvey collected Carnival Glass, organized many seniors curling bonspiels, was a member on the board of directors of the Sundridge Happy Gang, helped organize three very successful Wylie Family Reunions and Bennison Family Reunions, was a member of the CMA Music Group from North Bay & a member of the Sundridge Horticultural Society where he organized many fun bus trips to southern Ontario Greenhouses. Harvey and Evelyn also completed his Bennison Family Tree Book.
The family will receive visitors at the Opatovsky Funeral Home - Moore Chapel, 9 Paget Street in Sundridge on Thursday March 18, 2021 from
10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Due to attendance restrictions a  private service for the immediate family to celebrate Harvey’s life will follow in the chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend David Woodall officiating.  For those wishing to attend virtually a Zoom link will be available by emailing a request to moore@opatovskyfuneralhome.com by 9am Wednesday  March 17, 2021.
Spring interment in South River Cemetery.
If desired, donations to the Sundridge Horticultural Society or the South River Legion would be sincerely appreciated by the family.

PLEASE NOTE : Registration is required to attend the visitation. To register please RSVP on the obituary page at www.opatovksyfuneralhome.com or call the funeral home at 705-382-3222 .  Please note: as per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario attendance numbers will be restricted (25). COVID-19 protocols are in place and masks are mandatory.
