Alan John Caldwell

Of Burks Falls

Early in the morning on December 12, 2022 Alan John Caldwell left us to join his beloved dog Misty for an eternity of good fishing and hunting.

Since his birth on March 25, 1962 Al lived most of life in Burk’s Falls becoming one of the town’s characters.  He also enjoyed a few side adventures in western Canada.

He will be remembered by his family:  his parents Betty and Bud (predeceased) Caldwell; brother Murray and Joanne, and Murray’s family: Calvin and Stephanie and their children Lucas and Nicole, Rennae and Rick and their children Reese, Jordan and RJ.

Al spoke with fondness about his grandparents Jack and Florence Thompson.

His puppy, Louis will be keeping Ken company.

Uncle by choice to Jenna and Leah Branch and Lucas and Seleena Leggett.  Who he spoiled and with whom he shared his wisdom. (whether they wanted it or not!)

He was a master builder and known as a hard worker.  His creations will live on and provide countless memories for those who were lucky enough to have Al build for them.

Well known for sharing his opinions on everything and doing so with enthusiasm: “like really!”.  No one had to guess how he felt about a situation or topic.

You were either a friend or you could “go to hell”.  And when you were his friend you knew he would do anything for you and would be at your side without hesitation.

His passion was his fishing, hunting and camping friends who gave him endless stories.  In particular he liked to share stories that included the antics of Peter, Cody, Hal, John and Jill, Jill and Dave, Rick and so many more.  He loved each of you with compassion and a genuine interest in your life.

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” Dr. Seuss

Al gave us the following directions “You’re not having a damn funeral.  When the weather is good you’re going to have a party by a lake, with good food, good company and a fire and then you can share bullshit stories about me”. And that’s what we will

In lieu of flowers , please consider donations to an organization that rescues dogs or to Huntsville Hospice.

This last year has shown the love he shared with so many friends.  Debbie and Ken Branch want to thank everyone who supported Al during the final part of his life journey and we want to ensure you each know how much you meant to him and thus to us.  Rest in peace dear friend.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Opatovsky Funeral Home- Dempster Chapel.
